Adventures of the Mind

I’m not the most adventurous person. I get the impression that some people look down on me because of this. I don’t have a wanderlust, I don’t have an urge to be off out doing some exciting thing every spare moment. I don’t spontaneously decide to hop in the car and drive to somewhere and back in a weekend. I’m not very spontaneous at all. I like to plan. I may not be physically adventurous or spontaneous, but it doesn’t mean I don’t experience the wonders of the world. These days you don’t actually have to leave your living room to experience wonders. For example last night I was watching Ocean Giants on BBC One. It’s such a good programme. Seeing the intelligence in those whales and dolphins … it made me quite emotional. Wonderful stuff! I was mesmerised by it. So while I may not be out there travelling the world, or off doing exciting hobbies … I’m here at home spending time with my kids, adventuring in my mind, absorbing amazing things via TV and getting immersed in books. I enjoy the simple things of life like sitting in a quiet garden, drifting to another world reading fantasy books, soaking up new music (and old), observing nature, savouring a nice cup of tea … and baking … lots of baking! I don’t think my life is any less rich.
