Fantastic Gig

Really had a brilliant time last night at the Ultimate Eagles gig (their 2nd gig ever in this form). Enjoyed their amazing sound, enjoyed singing along, enjoyed the atmosphere … they’re a group of really talented guys. And they’re nice too :) I shyly asked for a photo with Danny first, and he was really nice … then I was brave enough to go and talk to Christian who was so friendly and got the rest of the group together for a photo with me :) I just wish I was a little less starstruck and could actually have a sensible conversation with them instead of just grinning madly!!

I would highly recommend you go to an Ultimate Eagles gig when they’re touring later in the year. Brilliant stuff!

Here’s a pic of them in action:

There are more photos on Facebook – should be set for anyone to see, so take a look :)

Back in November last year I went to a gig – it was the Illegal Eagles. I loved it and I loved the guys in the group who were really friendly and signed a t-shirt for me :-) I bought a CD, played it repeatedly and was looking forward to seeing them again. But then they split up … sad times :( But then there was talk of reforming band(s) in different ways … good times! :)

So, anyway, there are now 2 groups – the all new Ultimate Eagles and a rather different (in terms of the members of the group) Illegal Eagles. I was feeling a little torn between the two, wondering which (if any) to kind of “pledge my allegiance” to!  They both have Facebook groups and members of both have befriended many fans.

Now they have both got a YouTube video of them performing the same song. It’s cemented my decision of who I prefer. I’d pretty much concluded that Ultimate Eagles would get my vote (in the unlikely event that my vote was required!) and now having a direct comparison of the sound between the two has confirmed that for me.

It’s a shame that they split up, but it does seem that they have reformed as 2 groups with maybe different ideas of where to go with the Eagles tribute thing – each will appeal to different fans I guess, so hopefully everyone’s a winner.

So you can make your own mind up (should you be interested) – here are the 2 videos:

I suppose to be fair I should also include a clip of the actual Eagles doing the same song … not sure which of the tribute bands are closer to sounding exactly like the real Eagles …
